Houston Laser Skin Rejuvenation
There is no better way to smooth an uneven complexion and treat aging skin issues than with laser skin rejuvenation. Advances in laser technology have made cosmetic laser treatments so versatile they are safe for all skin types and can effectively address almost any flaw in your skin’s tone or texture without resulting in a lengthy recovery period.
Is Laser Skin Rejuvenation Right For Me?
Men and women of all ages regularly seek laser skin rejuvenation in Houston to treat sun damage, age spots and rough, weathered skin that has suffered under the hot Texas sun. But laser skin rejuvenation is ideal for addressing much more than just uneven pigmentation and other skin damage that occurs with sun exposure.
The Fraxel Laser, Dr. Basu’s preferred laser device for skin rejuvenation, can also address any number of the following issues:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Thin, crepey skin
- Mild skin laxity
- Acne scars
- Large pores
- Surgical scars
- Melasma
- Rosacea
- Skin redness
Additionally, laser skin rejuvenation can be performed on all or part of your face, your neck, chest, arms and/or the backs of your hands.
Laser Skin Treatment
Dr. Basu will complete a thorough evaluation of your skin and talk with you about your cosmetic concerns before recommending laser resurfacing or any other skin rejuvenation procedure.
During your skin evaluation, Dr. Basu will also consult with you about your skin care regimen and suggest products, such as those from the Obagi skin care line, designed to help you maintain a fresh, youthful-looking complexion.
If you and Dr. Basu decide that laser skin rejuvenation will help you achieve your cosmetic goals, he will recommend a customized laser treatment program that is safe for your skin type to address your unique needs. Typically, Dr. Basu recommends a series of anywhere from 3-6 laser treatment sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart.
During your laser treatment sessions, Dr. Basu will adjust the settings of the Fraxel Laser to deliver the precise amount of laser energy needed to correct your skin issues without causing a significant amount of downtime or discomfort.
Laser Resurfacing Recovery and Results
After laser skin resurfacing with the Fraxel Laser, your face may feel mildly sunburned for a few days. Depending on the aggressiveness of your laser skin treatment, you may experience temporary swelling, skin pinkness and eventual bronzing of the skin. This is all just part of the natural healing process that takes place after laser skin rejuvenation and can be easily managed with a little makeup and the right moisturizer.
You will notice improvement in your complexion within 1-2 weeks of your first laser skin treatment, and the results will only continue to improve over the next several months as you complete your treatment series.
It is extremely important to avoid sun exposure and wear a full spectrum sun block (SPF 30+) every day, especially following laser treatments, in order to maintain your results. Your skin is very susceptible to damage immediately following laser treatment, and the sun’s harmful UV rays can make your laser resurfacing results difficult to maintain if left unchecked.
