Radiesse in Houston
Radiesse is among the best non-surgical treatments available to patients wishing to correct skin flaws associated with aging or enhance disproportionate or weak facial features. If you’re in the Houston area and interested in restoring a smooth, youthful appearance to your skin, read on to learn more about how Radiesse can help.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is the brand name injectable filler used for volume restoration and skin rejuvenation. Radiesse injections are routinely used for the following non-surgical treatments:
- Wrinkle reduction
- Cheek augmentation
- Chin augmentation
- Hand rejuvenation
- Nose shaping
How Radiesse Works
The Radiesse filler product is made of calcium hydroxylapatite, a natural substance found in our bones, as well as a gel that suspends the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres. When injected, Radiesse gel provides an immediate increase in volume, filling wrinkles and other skin depressions and augmenting soft tissues, and the calcium hydroxylapatite component of Radiesse stimulates the body’s own natural collagen production process. This makes Radiesse results both quick and long-lasting.
During your Radiesse treatment, Dr. Basu will cleanse the injection area(s) after talking with you about your cosmetic concerns and evaluating your skin. He will choose strategic injection points designed to help you achieve the correction you desire and inject the perfect amount of the Radiesse product deep within skin tissues along each of these points (usually 1-2 syringes of Radiesse). This will ensure your results are even, smooth and natural-looking.
You may return to work and other normal daily activities right away, and you may be advised to apply ice to the treatment area to minimize swelling. Patients who have Radiesse injections should also typically avoid sun exposure and manipulation of the treatment area for a few days.
Most patients experience at least one year of correction with Radiesse before the product is gradually absorbed by the body and repeat injections are needed. Because Radiesse results do last for such a long time in comparison with other injectable filler treatments, it is often best to start with a more temporary filler product such as Restylane or Juvederm to see if you are happy with injectable filler results before committing to long-term correction with Radiesse.
Radiesse treatment is also commonly combined with other non-surgical cosmetic procedures, such as laser skin rejuvenation with the Fraxel Laser, to help patients achieve comprehensive improvement in both the fullness and texture of their skin.
Radiesse Side Effects
In the hands of an experienced injector like Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Bob Basu, Radiesse injections produce excellent results for face and hand rejuvenation with very few side effects. The most common Radiesse side effects are temporary, and include slight redness, discomfort, bruising and/or swelling near injection sites for a few days after the procedure.
Other reported Radiesse side effects like lumpiness or uneven results are typically the result of poor injection technique or substitution of Radiesse look-alike products for the real thing. These problems can be avoided by seeing a highly experienced, ethical and professional Houston Radiesse doctor like Dr. Basu.
