Sculptra Houston

Sculptra Aesthetic is an anti-aging collagen stimulator that beautifully restores lost volume and facial structure, producing a healthy, youthful appearance.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable treatment that differs from traditional filler. This long-lasting collagen stimulator is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the material used in dissolving sutures. When injected, it stimulates our own production of healthy new collagen to restore lost volume and structure.

Sculptra Aesthetics injectable treatment at Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery in Houston

What makes Sculptra unique and ideal in facial rejuvenation is its ability to repair and replace natural collagen. The active ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid, dissolves and the beautiful results and natural appearance is all your own healthy tissue.

Prior to being injected, this powder form of poly-L-lactic acid is mixed with sterile water and lidocaine (for patient comfort) and placed in areas of the face where volume and structure are lacking or lost.

Sculptra is made by Galderma, who also makes some of our favorite brands and treatments, including Dysport, Restylane, and ALASTIN® medical-grade skincare.

Treatment areas

Sculptra is a very versatile injectable treatment and can provide noticeable benefits in the following areas of the face and body:

  • Cheeks
  • Temples
  • Perimeter of the face
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Décolleté
  • Buttocks (also known as an injectable BBL)
  • Hip dips
  • And more!

Who is a candidate for a Sculptra Aesthetic treatment?

While greater collagen and volume loss is experienced and noticeable with age, all patients can benefit from Sculptra. For patients in their late 20’s and 30’s who may have minimal volume loss but desire a more balance facial structure and shape, Sculptra is a beautiful treatment option. For patients in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, more product or number of Sculptra sessions are commonly recommended to achieve desired results. If you’re interested in learning if you are a candidate, we encourage you to schedule a personal consultation with one of our experienced aesthetics injectors to discuss how Sculptra filler can help you meet your goals!

Sculptra vs Other Dermal Filler Brands

Sculptra Aesthetic differs from other dermal fillers (such as Juvederm® or Restlyane®) primarily in its mechanism of action and longevity. Sculptra is formulated with poly-L-lactic acid, and Juvederm and Restylane dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid. Instead of providing immediate volume, Sculptra stimulates your body’s natural collagen production process for a gradual, more natural-looking result. While many dermal fillers last from 6 to 12 months, the effects of Sculptra can last up to two years.

Your Sculptra Treatment: What to Expect

Your Initial Consultation

During a Sculptra consultation, one of our qualified injectors will evaluate your medical history, your unique anatomy, and discuss your aesthetic goals to determine if Sculptra is right for you. Your injector will also go over the expected results, potential risks, and costs associated with Sculptra injections, answering any questions or concerns you might have. We will also provide a pricing estimate for a personalized treatment plan to help you safely and effectively achieve your desired results.

Preparing for Treatment

To prepare for your Sculptra treatment, please avoid consuming alcohol or taking blood thinners, NSAIDs, vitamin E, and fish oil supplements for at least a week prior to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling. Arrive at your appointment well-hydrated and discuss any last-minute concerns or questions with your provider.

What can Sculptra treatments achieve?

Facial Rejuvenation with Sculptra

Sculptra was first FDA-approved in 2009 for the treatment of deep facial wrinkles and folds. Since then, it has been successfully used to correct several common signs of aging, including:

  • Restoring facial volume lost from to aging or illness
  • Filling hollows in the cheeks or temples
  • Treating deep lines, folds, and creases to restore a youthful appearance

Once injected, Sculptra Aesthetic works by supporting the production of new collagen in the skin for up to 24 months. That new collagen, in turn, firms the skin, improves and restores volume, increases skin thickness, and creates an overall improvement in skin texture.

Although Sculptra isn’t best for treating thin, fine lines, it can vastly reduce deep facial wrinkles in certain areas of the face, such as the nasolabial folds (laugh lines).

Results are not immediate, and take a few months to peak, but are incredibly long-lasting, especially when compared to other dermal fillers. Sculptra is one of the longest lasting injectable treatments available on the market today.

Sculptra injectable butt lift: BBL without surgery

Sculptra can be safely injected into the buttocks to enhance your curves and provide more volume – without the need for extensive surgery! This is a great option to get a rounder, fuller bum with little-to-no downtime. Our team of nurse injectors at our Houston medspa performs a Sculptra injectable butt lift as a safe, non-surgical alternative to Brazilian butt lift surgery.

Unlike fat grafting, which requires the injection to reach deep into the fat layer, Sculptra butt injections use a thin needle that reaches just below the skin’s surface. To ensure your comfort during this treatment, we will apply a topical anesthetic to the injection area before we begin. Most patients report only a slight pinching feeling as the injections are performed.

In contrast to surgical BBLs, which come with extensive downtime as you recover, after a Sculptra non-surgical butt lift, you can return to your normal daily activities immediately following your treatment.  You may experience soreness in your glutes for a few days, but there is no need to change or refrain from sitting – even exercising after a Sculptra injectable BBL is permitted.

Post-Treatment: Recovery & Results

Is there downtime with Sculptra Aesthetic?

One of the advantages Sculptra has over more invasive or surgical alternatives is the fact that recovery is minimal, and there is no downtime after being treated with Sculptra.

Sculptra is an injectable, and with any treatment where a needle or cannula is utilized, possible side effects include bruising around the injection site. For the first 5 days, we require you to massage the area treated several times per day. The treated area may be tender for the first few days, and we may ask you to be careful with some exercise routines for the first few days, however, you can return to your typical routine.

When will I see my results?

The results from Sculptra treatments are not instant; the active ingredient goes to work stimulating healthy collagen and tissue over the course of the following 3-6 weeks, after which your final results will be visible.

For optimal results, patients may be encouraged to schedule a series of 2-3 sessions, a month apart, to achieve ideal volume and reshaping. During your consultation, we will discuss the amount of product and number of sessions needed to meet your goals.

How long will my Sculptra results last?

The effects of Sculptra can last up to two years, but individual experiences may vary. Maintenance treatments can help prolong your results, as they help sustain the rejuvenated and youthful appearance of your skin.

Results from Sculptra are both rewarding and lasting. Sculptra can take years off an appearance, along with improving the overall health and texture of your skin.

How much do Houston Sculptra injections cost?

The cost of your Sculptra treatment varies based on how much product is recommended for your aesthetic goals. The average pricing per 9cc vial is $900, and an average treatment plan can be 2-6 vials. Treatment plans and pricing are always discussed during your consultation. Although non-surgical, Sculptra injections are a medical procedure, and it’s important to receive this injectable treatment from a qualified medical professional.
