Brow Lift | Forehead Lift | Houston

Houston Chronicle's Best of the Best 2022 Winner

2022 Best of the Best Plastic Surgeon in Houston

The appearance of your brow, along with your eyes, is significantly responsible for conveying emotion. A furrowed, sagging brow can signal to others that we are upset or tired, even when we are not. The brow’s position can also be a significant sign of aging. Brow lift surgery lifts heavy, drooping eyebrows as well as smoothing horizontal forehead lines and diminishes frown lines between the eyebrows. A brow lift can also support treatment of upper eyelid hooding. By removing excess skin from the forehead and repositioning the underlying muscles and tissues, a brow lift can help you achieve your goals for a naturally younger and more alert appearance. At Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery, we achieve these improvements without creating an unnatural or permanently surprised appearance

WHY CONSIDER BROW LIFT SURGERY?

Patients who consider a brow lift often have these goals in mind:

  • Look years younger
  • Improve their confidence and appear alert and awake
  • Improve their peripheral vision
  • Highlight or improve the appearance of heavy eyes

GOOD CANDIDATES FOR BROW LIFT SURGERY

You may be a good candidate for brow lift surgery if you:

  • Don’t smoke
  • Have a BMI of 40 or less
  • Are in generally good health
  • Have a sagging brow
  • Have impaired vision from your brow
  • Want to look younger and more awake
  • Want to enhance a facelift and/or eyelid lift procedure

Dr. Basu or Dr. DeBusk can help you decide if brow lift surgery is right for you.

TYPES OF BROW LIFTS

At Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery, we offer a few different brow lift options to meet your aesthetic and medical needs, all of which are performed under general or local anesthesia in our state-licensed Ambulatory Surgery Center:

CLASSIC FOREHEAD LIFT /CORONAL BROW LIFT TECHNIQUE

For a classic brow lift, your surgeon will make an incision starting at your ear, tracing your hairline up to your forehead, and ending at your other ear. Though this traditional brow lift is a more extensive procedure that requires some healing time and will leave a scar in your hairline, for the right patient, it can provide the ultimate lift to your brow.

One of the advantages of this technique is the ability for Dr. DeBusk to reposition the hairline (also called Hairline Advancement)—an attractive option for patients with a high or receding hairline who also want to diminish signs of aging in the upper face.

TEMPORAL BROW LIFT

A temporal brow lift, also called a mini brow lift, is a minimally invasive surgery that tightens and elevates your outer brow and upper eyelid skin to a naturally higher position. A pocket is created in your brow via two tiny incisions made in the hairline, leaving the muscles and nerves in your forehead completely untouched. The result is a naturally elevated brow that decreases brow ptosis (sagging) and better reveals your eyes. Temporal brow lifts are often recommended in combination with eyelid and facelift surgery for ideal facial balance and rejuvenation.

ENDOSCOPIC FOREHEAD LIFT

True to its name, your surgeon will use an endoscopic camera to treat and elevate the tissues beneath your forehead (subcutaneous brow). Access is gained through a few small incisions in your scalp, hidden within your hairline. Because they are less invasive, endoscopic brow lifts can be an excellent brow lift alternative for the right patient.

Coronal / Forehead Lift

The classic forehead lift involves an incision across the top of the head at the hairline.

Dr. DeBusk then lifts the forehead skin and adjusts the underlying muscles and subcutaneous brow tissues as necessary. This approach effectively softens or eliminates frown lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows) horizontal forehead creases, and lifts droopy eyebrows to a naturally higher position. Your hair will grow through the incision in the following months after surgery to conceal the incision, making this technique suitable for men and women who wear their hair short or who wear their hair pulled back.

[Dr. DeBusk] is the most caring doctor I have ever seen. My surgery went smoothly and beautifully with no stress and pain. He is a great doctor at the same time he is a very nice human…

BROW LIFT RECOVERY & SCARS

Brow lift surgery typically takes 1 to 2 hours and is performed under general or local anesthesia. You may return to work and driving within 1 to 2 weeks, and may gradually resume regular physical activities after 2 to 4 weeks. For endoscopic and temporal brow lifts, your results will be fully visible within 3 to 4 weeks. You should allow 6 to 12 weeks to see your full results from a classic brow lift. Brow lift scars will vary based on the specific surgical plan: Dr. Basu or Dr. DeBusk will explain exactly where they will make each incision to ensure you are comfortable with the placement.

Though you and your surgeon will discuss your recovery in-depth, the following applies to all brow lifts:

  • They are performed as outpatient surgeries, meaning you will be able to return home on the day of your surgery
  • You should walk around your house during your first day of surgery to encourage blood flow
  • Skincare and sun protection are essential during healing to ensure optimal results and inconspicuous scarring
  • Results are long-term and will help your face age naturally and gracefully

ENHANCE YOUR BROW LIFT WITH THESE PROCEDURES

A brow lift is an impactful surgery, taking years off your appearance and improving your vision, but results can be further enhanced with these additional facial procedures:

  • Eyelid lift surgery, or blepharoplasty, can reduce under-eye bags and tighten skin above the eyes as well as the lower eyelids for a more alert and refreshed appearance. Eyelid surgery can also help to improve your field of vision by lifting and/or removing excess skin of the upper eyelids.
  • A facelift tightens sagging skin, smoothes wrinkles, and reduces “jowliness” in your face. When paired with a brow lift, a facelift can easily take a decade off your appearance.
  • A neck lift can restore your chin’s natural shape, slim your neck, define your jawline, and reduce wrinkly “turkey neck” skin. Combining a neck lift in addition to a brow lift can enhance the results of both surgeries and give you an overall rejuvenated appearance.

Combining a brow lift with one or more of these procedures can also save you money on anesthesia and surgical room costs, however, it is important to understand that undergoing multiple surgeries will increase your surgery and recovery times. The surgical team at Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery will discuss which procedures will best enhance your natural beauty and achieve your appearance goals.

WHAT DOES BROW LIFT SURGERY COST IN HOUSTON?

The cost of your brow lift procedure will vary depending on the specific procedure you and your surgeon choose and whether you decide to enhance your lift with any other procedures. The cost of your procedure will include the surgeon’s fee, all facility and anesthesia fees, and all pre and post-op appointments.

At Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of plastic surgery financing options to make your procedure as affordable as possible. Our friendly staff would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
