Non-Surgical Body Contouring with Emsculpt in Houston
Most of us struggle with areas of diet- and exercise-resistant fat somewhere on our bodies. While past methods of addressing stubborn body fat involved liposuction, Emsculpt® body contouring now lets you reduce excess fat and tighten underlying muscles without surgery or significant downtime. If aging, genetics, or a busy lifestyle have left you with a few extra pounds, Emsculpt from BTL Aesthetics is an easy, effective, and surgery-free way to slim down, tone up, and feel confident.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bob Basu performs Emsculpt body contouring in Houston, Texas.

What is Emsculpt?
Builds muscle. Emsculpt uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to strengthen and tone muscles without affecting your overlying skin. By inducing thousands of supramaximal contractions, a single Emsculpt session is equivalent to doing hundreds of sit-ups, squats, or arm curls in one sitting. On average, patients experienced an abdominal muscle gain of nearly 16% after undergoing four Emsculpt treatments.
Burns fat. Emsculpt triggers lipolysis, the body’s way of naturally breaking down and disposing of fat cells, reducing both visceral and subcutaneous fat. The treatment can also boost your metabolism, helping you burn more fat even after treatment is finished. In fact, clinical studies showed fat metabolism increased up to five times (19% to 92% post-treatment) among patients who underwent Emsculpt treatments. On average, patients were able to reduce their waistline circumference by three centimeters or more after five once-a-week treatments.
What are the benefits of Emsculpt?
- Reduced body fat
- Improved posture
- Correction of diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles after pregnancy)
- Increased muscle mass
- No incisions or surgery required
- Little to no downtime required
Where can Emsculpt be performed?
Emsculpt is currently FDA cleared to treat the following areas:
Bob Basu, MD, MBA, MPH, FACS
- Princeton-Educated, Nationally Recognized, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
- Over 16,000 Cosmetic Procedures Performed
- Top Doc in “Best Plastic Surgeon” category for over a decade
What to expect during your treatment
During your Emsculpt treatment, Dr. Basu will apply the device paddles on top of the muscle group you wish to tone. Each treatment lasts 30 minutes, and we typically recommend four total treatments spread out over a couple of weeks to achieve optimal results.
There is nothing you need to do to prepare for your treatment, and you’ll be able to return to your normal activities immediately afterward. Emsculpt is the perfect “lunchtime treatment” because it can be done during your lunch break, while running errands, or in-between meetings. During your treatment, you may listen to music, check emails, or read a book.
Is treatment painful?
Most of our patients describe Emsculpt treatment as a “tingling” sensation. This may be slightly uncomfortable but should not at all be painful.
When will I see my results?
Emsculpt results are typically visible within just a few days after your first treatment session. However, for optimal muscle toning results, we recommend you receive a total of four sessions scheduled once a week and allow up to three months after your final session to see full results.
Am I a good candidate for Emsculpt?
Men and women in the Houston area who meet the following criteria may be good candidates for Emsculpt:
- Want to gain muscle and lose weight quickly without surgery
- Are in overall good health
- Have a BMI of 30 or less
- Plan on maintaining a healthy lifestyle following treatment
- Are looking for a butt lift alternative
The majority of Emsculpt patients we see at Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery are men and women with busy schedules who are looking to jumpstart a new fitness routine. We also see men and women who want an effective way to quickly enhance their regular fitness and bodybuilding/toning/work-out regimes to look their best in time for vacations, photoshoots, or special events. We find that people who follow a healthy diet and exercise routine after their treatments tend to see the longest-lasting results.
You may not be a good candidate if you:
- Have metallic or electronic implants, such as artificial joints or pacemakers
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a BMI greater than 30
- Wish to use treatments as a substitute for a healthy exercise and diet routine
Can Emsculpt be combined with non-surgical skin tightening treatment?
Emsculpt pairs exceptionally well with BodyTite™PRO and FaceTite technologies. These devices use radiofrequency (RF) technology to dramatically slim, firm, and contour the body without major surgery (minor incisions are required). Many of our patients enjoy the greatest body contouring and skin tightening effects by using BodyTite Pro and/or FaceTite immediately before their Emsculpt treatment to “preheat” their target muscles, enhancing the benefits of both technologies.
Additionally, if you have a BMI slightly greater than 30, you may choose to undergo CoolSculpting® before your Emsculpt treatment to remove some excess fat, allowing the machine to better target your muscles.
How much is Emsculpt in Houston?
Emsculpt averages $3,500 for four treatment sessions at our Houston practice. Prices for treatment may vary based on each patient’s needs.
At Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery, we offer frequent special promotions for Emsculpt body contouring treatments. We also offer plastic surgery financing options to make your body contouring as affordable as possible.
