5 Reasons to Treat Yourself to a Hydrafacial

Woman getting a Hydrafacial treatment at a Houston med spa

Hydrafacial is one of the most popular treatments at our premiere medspas in Cypress and Uptown Houston, and—with immediate results and zero downtime—it’s easy to see why. Safe for all skin types, Hydrafacial deeply cleanses the skin while targeting common skin concerns in a pampering treatment experience that is totally unique! Using a steady stream of water, the multi-step Hydrafacial extracts impurities, exfoliates, and hydrates your skin with a serum-infusion for a clearer, healthier-looking complexion.

With so many medspa treatments to choose from, you may wonder why patients and celebs alike put Hydrafacial at the top of their lists and book them at regular intervals. Here, we share 5 reasons why you should treat yourself to a Hydrafacial.

1. You want to exfoliate but have sensitive skin

A Hydrafacial exfoliates via hydradermabrasion, an extremely gentle-yet-effective method which eliminates the risk of post-treatment irritation associated with harsher exfoliating options like microdermabrasion—especially if you have sensitive skin.

Here’s how these two dermabrasion techniques differ: Microdermabrasion uses a fine jet of tiny crystals to physically break up dead skin cells and reveal fresh skin below; however, the intensity of the treatment can cause residual redness and flakiness. While these symptoms are short-lived for those with sturdy skin, sensitive skin can be left uncomfortably dry, irritated, and/or crusty for a number of days after treatment.

In contrast, Hydrafacial uses a gentle chemical exfoliant called salicylic acid to help refresh the skin. Chemical exfoliants dissolve dead skin cells rather than scouring them away and thus more gently achieve results. Chemical exfoliants can also be varied in potency to personalize your treatment, allowing you to avoid over-exfoliating. Combined with gentle suction and serum-infused water, Hydrafacial can achieve a deep clean and noticeable improvement in your skin’s health and appearance, even if you are prone to sensitivity.

2. You want a treatment that is customized for your skin concerns

A versatile and non-invasive treatment, the Signature Hydrafacial® can comprehensively refresh your skin, and Hydrafacial MD (Deluxe Hydrafacial MD® and Platinum Hydrafacial MD®) offers a variety of Boosters to target specific skin concerns. Common skin concerns Hydrafacial can target include:

  • Acne
  • Pore size
  • Rough skin texture
  • Oily or congested skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Pigmentation irregularities

After discussing your skin goals, your Hydrafacialist will determine the level of salicylic acid (there are 3 strengths available) and the ideal products and serums to incorporate during your treatment to achieve optimal results.

Hydrafacial can achieve a deep clean and noticeable improvement in your skin’s health and appearance.

3. You want to get your glow on for an upcoming event

To boost your skin’s appearance before an event, Hydrafacial is the go-to treatment to achieve healthier, more radiant, photo-ready skin. While some treatments may need time before visible results are noticeable and need to be planned weeks or months in advance of an event, with Hydrafacial you will see clearer, brighter skin immediately following treatment—and an added glow that can last up to a week. Plus, Hydrafacial creates an ideal base for smooth, long-lasting makeup application.

While Hydrafacial is gentle enough to receive the day of an event (we recommend waiting at least 6 hours to apply makeup or wash your face so your customized serums have time to absorb fully), we recommend scheduling your treatment 1-3 days before to allow the serums applied to your skin time to work so your skin’s glow will be as its peak! If you have a little more room in your calendar and would like even more luminous skin, a series of Hydrafacial treatments can be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart to achieve healthier skin and greater improvement of skin imperfections.

4. You are busy but still want to take care of your skin

We all want better looking skin but making time for an intensive treatment that involves days of social downtime is challenging when you have a busy schedule. With Hydrafacial, you can improve your skin and have a pampering experience in an hour or less. Depending on which Hydrafacial you choose, your treatment will take between 30-60 minutes, and you can return to work and your normal daily activities right after your appointment. Hydrafacial is thus a great “lunch break” treatment as zero downtime is required; most patients feel completely comfortable out in public after their Hydrafacial.

Finding a spare hour every 4-6 weeks for a Hydrafacial can help you maintain healthy-looking skin and can prevent small issues from becoming bigger, more apparent concerns that require more dramatic treatments. For example, clogged pores increase acne breakouts, which, if not controlled, eventually can lead to hyperpigmentation and scarring. Hydrafacial is proven to help reduce acne breakouts and its associated effects.

Similarly, Hydrafacial can slow the formation of fine lines. While having Hydrafacials alone won’t indefinitely prevent wrinkles, the treatment will soften their effects and help delay the need for more intensive anti-aging treatments.

With Hydrafacial, you can improve your skin and have a pampering experience in an hour or less.

5. You want to combine treatments for enhanced improvement

As a standalone treatment, Hydrafacial is a safe and effective option to improve the overall health and appearance of your skin. When combined with other treatments, visible skin improvements can be extended or amplified. Many patients combine Hydrafacial with one or more treatments, including:

Hydrafacial will also help prime your skin for better absorption of your skincare products and enhance their effectiveness, especially if you use physician-only skincare products (which have much greater potency than typical OTC products!).
