Breast Lift Surgery
Breast lift surgery changes the breast’s position so that your breasts are higher and appear more youthful. If you have lost volume in your breasts as well, the breast lift can be combined with breast implants to restore fullness.
Why Undergo Breast Lift Surgery?
Sagging breasts are common after pregnancy and breastfeeding, and as a result of aging. Many women choose breast lift surgery because they want their breasts to look the way they did when they were younger or before they had children.
You might consider a breast lift for many different reasons, including:
- if your breasts have begun to sag over time,
- if your breasts become droopy after pregnancy or breastfeeding,
- if you desire perkier breasts, and
- if you desire a better breast contour and profile.
Your Choices About Breast Lift Surgery
Breast lift surgery is performed to raise the breast. Breast lift surgery can be combined with breast implant surgery if you want larger breasts in addition to raised breasts. Some women undergoing breast reduction will also have a breast lift so that their smaller breasts sit in a more pleasing location on their body.
Dr. Basu also specializes in a unique breast lift technique that augments your cleavage using your own tissue without breast implants. This procedure was featured in an ABC 13 news story. Click to watch.

What to Expect During a Breast Lift Procedure
During a breast lift without breast augmentation or breast reduction, Dr. Basu strives to utilize limited scar techniques. He will make an incision around areas of the areola and breast crease. He will remove excess skin, make sure the areola is properly repositioned and then close the incisions.
The placement of the incision is determined by the amount that your breasts sag. Some patients with only minor sagging will have a circular incision made around the areola. Other patients will have an incision around the areola and down the breast. The incisions allow the skin to be tightened during the breast lift. After the incisions are made, extra skin will be removed to give the lifted breast a firm appearance.
After a breast lift, the breast will sit at a higher position on the chest. You will see the results of the breast lift right away, your results will only get better as the swelling goes away over several weeks. Following a breast lift surgery you will need to rest and recover.
